Our Story
OPENED OUR DOORS ON JULY 1ST, 1956
Arny’s opened as Eddy’s on July 1, 1956. At that time, the bar was located in the heart of a bustling downtown in Minot, North Dakota. Industrial and commercial buildings surrounded the pub. Mitchell’s Hardware, Bridgeman Creamery, I.Keatings, and Cloverdale were just a few of the neighboring businesses. Eddy’s was the place the business class spent many a happy hour after a long day of work. Eddy’s was also the first bar in Minot to have electronic air conditioning.
The train tracks used to roll through 3rd Street and beer would be given to rail workers on the cars as they passed by.
The years passed and under new ownership, the name changed to Arny’s. As businesses relocated to other parts of town or closed down, the hustle and bustle of a once busy neighborhood quieted down. The fish can still be heard swimming in the aquarium that once occupied a wall in the bar.
In 2017, Arny’s is under new ownership. Owners Melissa & Steve renovated the interior to give it a fresh look while maintaining many of the nostalgic characteristics of the pub. Gaming is available daily along with daily drink specials to keep patrons glasses full and faces smiling. New decor and bartending staff bring a brightened, friendly watering hole to the industrial district of downtown Minot. If it’s been a while, give them a try. If you’ve never been, come on in and enjoy a drink in Minot’s Original Hometown bar.
